Radioplay

Bilingual history 8 interactive

A radio play about the Revolution of 1848

The bilingual history courses in year 8 produced radio plays about a historical topic together  with Mr. Fischer, Ms. Stubbe and our media expert Kai Hoffmann. This was an excellent opportunity to try out the new audio equipment Schillerschule got from N-21!

Shayan Hundrieser (8c) about the project:

In history we discussed the Congress of Vienna and its consequences. To understand the period of the Vormärz and the German Revolution of 1848 better we prepared radio plays. Perhaps you wonder what a radio play is. A radio play is something like a Hörspiel or a podcast.

We divided the historical events into three topics: The first radio play centered around the Congress of Vienna and the Vormärz period, the second dealt with the time of the German Revolution of 1848/1849 and the last presentation focused on the time after the Revolution.

So how did we produce them? Generally speaking, we wrote scripts for the radio plays, recorded our voices with professional technical equipment and cut the audio files like experienced TV or radio employees. When we recorded our texts we made sure that we spoke clearly and pronounced the words correctly. This was of great importance, because afterwards everybody should be able to listen and to understand the recorded voices. One speaker after the other spoke his or her various parts of the dialog. Everything was recorded, the well-pronounced words but also the parts that weren´t perfect. The voice of each speaker was recorded separately. Afterwards the different parts of the speakers were cut and combined.

All in all, in our opinion this kind of learning history was more impressive than only listening to our teacher. We had the feeling that we did something of special importance making us very proud.
